One of the great needs in the church today is for men who are equipped and motivated to be spiritual leaders in the home, workplace, community and church.  At Crossgate we are committed to helping men become men of God.  The words of the old hymn, "Rise Up, O Men of God" pretty well sums up what we want to see happen:   

"Rise up, O men of God!  Have done with lesser things;  

Give heart and soul and mind and strength to serve the King of Kings.

Rise up, O men of God!  The Church for you doth wait,

Her strength unequal to her task:  Rise up and make her great.

One of the things that we're doing to help men move towards this goal is our monthly Men's Whetstone.  The purpose of this ministry is threefold:  1) to reach men with the Gospel, 2) help them develop meaningful relationships with other Christian men, and 3) to challenge and equip them to be spiritual leaders in the home, church and community. 

Our Whetstone meets the last Saturday of the month for breakfast, fellowship and sharpening each other as we discuss issues that are pertinent to men in our day. 

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” – Prov.27:17
