How Do I Meet People?
At Crossgate we want our members to “connect in a meaningful way” so that they can derive the maximum benefit from their involvement. Now it is possible to have a superficial connection with the church where you just show up at church on Sundays or other special occasions. There will always be people who will opt for this limited type of involvement, and we certainly welcome people like this. If this is where you are at this point, and what you feel comfortable with, be assured that we will not pressure you to do more than you want to do.
But having said that, we do want to set before you ways that you can connect in a way that will catapult your spiritual life to a whole new level – that will result in your spiritual life becoming more exciting and meaningful as you come to know God in a more intimate way.
What we really want everyone to realize is that the church is more than an organization that is there to encourage people to live good, moral lives. The church, according to the Bible, is the Body of Christ – a living, vibrant organism that pulsates with the life of Jesus. What this means is that the church is not a building, but the people of God who are living in union with Christ and with each other.
In order to connect in a truly “meaningful way”, a person will need to cultivate two important relationships: their relationship with Christ and their relationship with others in the church. The two go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other.
At Crossgate we want to foster these relationships in the following ways:
Community Groups
This is our small group ministry that gives people an opportunity to develop friendships within the body, and to encourage and support one another as they live out the Christian life. We have a number of these groups that meet at various times and places during the week. Click here to find a small group near you.
Ministry Presentation Dinner
Periodically, the pastor presents an overview of the ministry of Crossgate – our vision, goals, philosophy of ministry, etc. We believe that people not only need to see and experience what the church is doing now, but they want to know where the church is going and what it will be like 5-10 years down the road. We believe that this presentation provides the information that people need in order to make an informed decision as to whether or not Crossgate is the right church for them.
Introduction to Crossgate
Several times a year, the pastor presents this class for those who are interested in actually becoming members of the church. In this class, we talk about what we believe, how the church is governed, spiritual gifts and how God has equipped you to serve his body, etc. It’s also a great time to ask any questions that you might have about the church.
